Where We Live, A Global Perspective

Year one pupils took a trip to a local Ghanaian village called, Oyibi and Kouttam Estates. The pupils were inquiring about the differences, similarities and reasons people live where they do.

The unit continued with a Clay hut building project, and creating a tissue box community. The tissue boxes were used to develop their understanding of the unit.

The pupils ended unit one with a cultural celebration. The year one’s came dressed in their traditional clothes and presented their culture and values to their peers and parents.

Unit 1:Transdisciplinary theme: Where we are in place and time. Central idea: Homes reflect cultural influences and local conditions. Lines of Inquiry: What constitutes a home, how homes reflect family values and factors that determine where people live.
