CAS Cocoa Farm Trip

ARIS Year 10 and 11 students engaged in their first service learning project by supporting cocoa farmers in the village of Apono apono near Suhum, which is located two hours north of Accra – Kumasi route.
Students supported free trade cocoa farmers by engaging in a variety of farming activities involved in organic cocoa farming. Students learned techniques such as weeding, plucking cocoa, harvesting, scooping out raw beans, the fermentation and drying beans process.
Major aspects of this experiential learning trip was interacting and immersing themselves with rural folks and farmers, learning about survival skills of forest living and the value of hard work.
