Mrs. Alpana Mukherjee

Head of Secondary School (Secondary)

Alpana Mukherjee, Joined ARIS as “Director of Studies and ICT Integration” in this new Academic Year. Alpana brings with her 27 years of rich teaching and administrative experiences from India and East Africa.

She holds Master Degree in Biology, Bachelor of Hons in Biology and Bachelor of Education degrees from Kalyani University, North Bengal University and Annamalai University in India respectively. She is an experienced IB Educator with several years of experience as IBDP Coordination, IBDP Examiner and actively working as a Consultant with IB School Service Department.

Before joining ARIS, she worked as a High School Principal and Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Innovation in an IB World school in Rwanda, East Africa for last 16 yrs. During her tenure, under her leadership, school became a Cambridge International School in 2001, received IBDP Authorization in 2005, Pasch School (Authorized by Goethe Institute to teach German language) in 2009. She also established various language based exchange program with Schools in Europe, North America and Kenya.

In her early teaching career in New Delhi, India, she received Best Science Teacher Award for her project on “Science and Society” with School Children. She received an intensive training as a “Change Agent” on ICT and Pedagogical development in Teaching and Learning to create 21st century Learner’. Training was sponsored by SIDA (Swedish International Development Agency) and Stockholm University in Sweden.

She strongly believes that use of ICT tools can bring the concept of “NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND” into reality. For last 2 years she has been working on Use of ICT tools, Effective teaching and learning, Students progress. Her motto is to support people to become the best that they can be.
She is married with two children. She is a music lover, singer, an outgoing person and avid reader.
