Head of Maths Department (Secondary, Maths)
Stephen Bobila gained admission to the University of Ghana, Legon, to read for a Bachelor of Arts degree, combining Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics and Statistics. He graduated in Mathematics with Statistics.
After graduation, he was recruited by the university’s Head of Mathematics Department to fulfil the National Service requirement with the department, lecturing Level 200 students and conducting tutorials with Level 100 and 300 students.
In 2013 he joined ARIS, where heads the Mathematics Department. He is currently teaching Extended and Additional Mathematics for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Higher Level Mathematics for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).
One of his favourite quotes is by Shakuntala Devi: “Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers.”
Stephen believes that mathematics is not just about finding the value of ““in the classroom context, but also involves applying how you obtained the ““value to your everyday activities and in solving everyday problems.
