Islamic Studies Department holds Quran Competition

The ARIS Islamic Studies Department recently organized the first Annual Quran Competition that was held on Saturday, the 31st of January. The Competition was on 9 levels – the Juzz’ Ama level, Half of Juzz’ Ama Level, PYP1 Level up to PYP6 Level and lastly the Beginners Level.

The evaluation was out of 10 points for each level. At the Juzz Ama and the Half of Juz Ama level, if a student got 7-7.9 points, it would be third place (Bronze) for ‘Good Recitation’, 8-8.9 would be in second place (Silver) for ‘Very Good Recitation’ and the Gold would go to students with points of 9-10 for ‘Excellent Recitation’. The other levels would also have the same grading system and would only receive Certificates. Participation Certificates were handed to students who took part in the competition, but got points below 7.

On the 28th of February, the Certificates and Medals were handed out to the PYP Students in the presence of Madam Dania, the Head of Primary School, the Judges, and the Guest of Honor – Hajj Safwan (Representative of GSIER). Madam Munnira, a PYP parent, also took part as an MC of the whole event.

Out of 76 Participants from PYP, 10 of them got the Gold Medal, 10 got the Silver and 13 got the Bronze Medals. Ending the ceremony, Hajj Safwan congratulated all students and parents and presented a gift of the ‘Holy Quran’ to the Juzz’ Ama level winners – Aisha El-Hajj (Year 3 – Gold), Abdul-Hafeez Agongo (Year 6 – Gold), Yara Nizar Mohammad (Year 4 – Gold), Ayah Shifau Salah (Year 5 – Silver) and last but not least, Suwebat Salah (Year 4 – Silver).
