PYP Celebrates 61st Year of Ghana's Independence

Mar 6, 2018

Ghana celebrates their 61st year of Independence on the 6th of March 2018. At ARIS, the PYP celebrated it on the 5th as a Happy Birthday to Ghana. All the students and Teacher came in beautiful, multicolored African motif outfits, almost as an ode to the colors of the Ghanaian flag and the vibrancy of the nation.

As an International School in Ghana, we urge each and every student, from Ghana and around the world, to participate in the celebration of Ghanaian Independence. A group of students led the walk with the Director, Head of School, PYP Coordinator and the Guests of Honor behind them as they hoisted the Ghana and the ARIS Flag. All students and teachers stood proudly for the Ghanaian National Anthem as well as the Youth Anthem.

In the ARIS Style, our children showcased just how talented they are as they paid an ode to the nation’s independence, by performing a Soldiers’ March for Independence, Ghanaian Dance performances by students and teachers, and also telling the story of Ghana’s Independence and the Big Six.

The show was closed by the Guests of Honor, who are also parents at ARIS and former Head of the PSA, Dr. Derban and Mrs. Derban. Just as it started, the drumming continued as the morning celebrations drew to a close. With this, I wish you all a very Happy Independence Day.
