Mr. Bobila Head of Maths Department won Best Teacher Award at the British Council Awards Night 2016.

Mr.  Stephen Bobila is an ambitious, self-made, workaholic but down to earth person. I have always been an achiever; be it academics or professional life or any other field in my life. I believe in success through hard work and dedication. My motto in life is “There is more sleep after death”. I believe that the fulfillment one gets from one’s work is very important for well-being. I am a progressive thinker and respect each person’s space and values. I take keen interest in Mathematics because it is the only way complicated things can be made simple. And it is through this way that I get my students to understand the subject. - Stephen Bobila

A few words from the students:

If you were to ask any student in Al Rayan International School’s secondary campus about who Mr Stephen Bobila is, I can say with certainty that the immense respect they have towards such a teacher would instantly be radiated and transferred onto you. might expect, a person teaching perhaps the worst subject to most students would be receiving quite a lot of hate. However, this is clearly not the case. The reasons for that go far beyond good explanations.

From a friend, to an usher, to an advisor, Mr Bobila is the combination of the most essential people in a student’s academic life. By perfectly striking a balance between serious and humorous times, he ensures the absolute comfort of every student in his class. That way, he manages to make the hardest mathematical topics seem rather silly.

Mr Bobila is the very embodiment of patience, perseverance, and versatility. Not understanding is not an issue, as he figures multiple approaches to each and every topic so that he comforts the widest range of students. No one is left behind. When Mr Bobila walked into ARIS in 2013, he had little to no teaching experience in school. Today, he stands as a model, as a representation of what an excellent teacher is, and should be. - Bashhar Byrouthy

Mr. Bobila is a wonderful and skillful man who communicates his teachings in an amazing manner. Though I have few classes with him, I always understand what he teaches us, and he will always answer questions no matter how simple they are. Mr. Bobila has a way of bringing the best out of students, which is proven from the amount of students who received A’s in his class. Learning with him is a lot of
fun as he has a wonderful sense of humor when he teaches his classes but can also get serious when required. Mr. Bobila goes above and beyond and I can always see that he loves what he does. He also remembers everyone’s name and constantly displays care and concern for all students’ problems. To be able to be this energetic and sacrifice time for all of us every day is very awe-inspiring and respectful, all
his classes are always fun to be in. Mr. Bobila shows us that anything is possible and I am proud to have such an amazing teacher in my school. - Ishil Khan

Brad Henry once said: “A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of
learning.”

Years from now, I know I will look back with great appreciation towards all those teachers who gave me the best methods of education I could possibly ever get. One of my favorite teachers, is the great Mr. Bobila who has proved to me a countless number of times that each student is of great value, and having everyone’s understanding is the key to having the best possible interactive lesson. Another quote
says: “A good teacher, like a good entertainer, first must hold his audience’s attention, then he can teach his lesson.” Mr. Bobila’s lessons are always entertaining as within the seriousness, he always tries to spice up the atmosphere with some humor and lightens the mood just enough to keep us motivated to carry on with the lesson.

He has a certain relationship with each student, and knows truly how we feel deep down during his lessons, for if a person found difficulty with understanding a topic he is always obliged to help them out and I can’t thank him enough for all the times he helped whenever I felt like I had lost hope in the subject. Not only does he help during his lesson, but he is very welcoming and often invites students if they need any help in his subject after school and this only shows how thoughtful and caring my teacher is. He even went further to open his own math club to offer help to all those who need it. There could never be one word to fully describe him, but out of the vast ocean of words that I
have, I would say that Mr. Bobila is simply outstanding. - Nour Assad
