A Marriage of Oppression A Global Perspectives Project

Nov 7, 2018

Child Marriages is one of the biggest social evils and a great hindrance to any progress. Although we would be feeling better with the idea that it is not as common as it was before, maybe one or two generations ago, the reality is that it still occurs more often than we know in certain societies and it is absolutely intolerable.

Our IGCSE Year 11 students created a beautiful silent short film about a child marriage case named “A Marriage of Oppression”. A child bride is forcefully married off to an abusive husband, conceives a baby and upon giving birth, loses her life. As painful as the story in itself may seem, it isn’t uncommon.
